My day started well, up at 5am, pick my mates up at 6am and onto the M4, an hour and a half later and bang, there goes the windscreen, bloody scary I can tell you! we plodded on for a few miles to the next services.

A quick call to my insurance, and no windscreen replacement would be possible today so 60 miles away from Sandown, I had no choice but to call the RAC and get towed home, while I waited I took advantage of the spare time, first by removing 90% of the glass

and then a read and a bit of grub, and a read.

I hope everyone else had a more successful journey.

Sorry you didn't make it.
I froze my balls off on the way up there.
Sleet and snow on the motorway with no heating made for an interesting journey!
Hope you get the screen fixed.
Cheers Paul.

yeah, i think it was just a stray stone, just kind of came from no where, still not fixed, I think its gonna take a while to get one ordered, plus I found some rust that I need to get sorted :(

My mate did manage to get to the show and buy the parts I needed though, so not all bad.

Man that must have woke you up, well done on not crashing the van.

I never made it.... Old Betty didn't even want to get off the drive way!!!
I spent Hours trying, then just went Bollox to it, it's to cold and my fingers are frozen to do anything now, so back indoors I went and av a cuppa tea and just stared at it out of the window, Sulking!

That must have been scary ****, what speed was you doing???

We were doing about 60, I carried on for a few miles, the screen held up quite well, it was only when we stopped that it started to fall apart, mainly due to opening and closing doors. Also worth noting I could see quite well even though it was shattered.

Yeah he has, but its only £90 excess on the insurance (only £90 lol ) but I get a brand new one, so not that bad really, and a new screen can make a massive difference to a van.

It should be fitted on Wednesday fingers crossed!

Man thats a serious brown trouser moment, i hope you had your Andrex puppy on board to wipe your arse on.
When you replace your screen make sure its a laminated one as they crack and dont shatter like the toughened one you had there. ;)
Glad no one was hurt.

Thanks dude, it's being fitted on Wednesday, I'm not sure what type, I'm expecting a call before they fit it so ill ask.

FEEL FOR YA FELLA....
I HAD A PASSENGER LORRY GLASS GO ON ME WHEN A MAD VOLVO DRIVER REFUSED TO KEEP TO HER YES HER SIDE OF THE ROAD SO I HAD TO EASE THE WAGON OVER SOMEWHAT ALBEIT TOOOOOOOO MUCH AND HIT A TELEGRAPH POLE WITH THE MIRROR WHICH THEN EXPLODED THE PASSENGER GLASS LIKE A BOMB.
I ENDED UP WITH GLASS IN MY HAIR,EARS AND UNDERPANTS  :msn4:  DONT ASK,THE MIRROR LANDED UNDER MY RIGHT FOOT ALL WHILE DOING 40MPH WITH 36TONS ON BOARD......AND THE FE##IN MOOSE NEVER STOPPED.

LET US KNOW HOW MUCH THE SCREEN WAS AND WHICH COMPANY FITTED/SUPPLIED CHIEF.

:sick0019:

Hi Mark.
The screen I have at home is a new one. I keep a spare as my screen has a crack in it!
Glad you got home ok. It was too cold with a windscreen, it would have killed me without one.

Be careful if you do order a pilkington one with a top tint, we had to try 4 different ones in our bus before we got one to fit, they have a batch that have been cut to the wrong size and dont go in properly. its basically too wide at the top.
