I have a set of matching white band tyres and one has a puncture near to the edge of the tread .. the tyre place says he can't mend it there but he can put a tube in ..

I asked if it would be ok and he said .... ' yeah .. it should be..'

In your opinions .. is it safe or not? :?

( may struggle to get another one of the tyres thats all ..)

Id have said it would be fine. If you had gotten a puncture in a tyre with a tube in in the first place thats all they would do. As long as the tyre isnt ripped across the cords etc it should be fine.

tubes should not be fitted to tubeless tyres, thats in case air gets trapped between tyre and tube, thats the "legal"bit but not had any probs over the years (mecanic)but tyre needs to be free from any cuts etc that could cause tube to fail.

cheers guys ..

Its not a big hole .. cant even see it without inflating it and putting it in water .. just a slow leak ..

I would have stopped being a cheap skate and bought another but cant find one to match ..

I cant find the same size with a white band .. ( its a 70 profile and all the other white band ones i can find are 75's ..)

.. when i pick them up i'll put the size up in the wanted section and see if anyone has a spare one kicking about ..

Cheers

I ran tubes in tubeless tires for 3 years no problems. I had them fitted with the tires when new because the fitter said the stock steel wheels weren't designed for tube less tires, and he couldn't guarantee that they would stay sealed without tubes.
