Alright where do I start; OK I have a RHD 1969 walkthrough deluxe recently bought out. Its my first bay window so I am a kind of noob when it comes to bays. Starting from here:

(I know I know you guys would be thinking WTH but then thats the oldest - 11/68 bay of Pakistan so it had to be saved, right? so there, I bought it and am trying to save it). Putting everything else on the back burner, I started with hunting the stripped RHD sliding door and all the bit it takes to complete it. Here is what I have bought out by far:

A stripped RHD Sliding Door

Inner and outer door handles

Thats all that I have been able to source by far. I know that the B pillar striking plate and shim needs to be sourced along with hinge carrier as in following pics

Question:
Can someone please post pictures of what parts I would need to mount the door on the bus and make it functional without a glitch? Pictorial elaborations would be highly appreciated because I would then use those pics to hunt the correct RHD missing sliding door parts. Thanks a bunch for help guys.

I have these parts book illustrations but hell, one cant find all the parts, I mean guys, we are talking about a RHD sliding door here. So please guide me whatever minimum parts that are required.

It looks to me like you pretty much have everything there except item 38 on the first diagram and the black plastic cover for it which is no.25 in the 2nd diagram. How's the resto going?

i like the splitty doors my self.
These aren't splitty door matey, its a sliding door cut in the center by the PO due to non-availability of sliding door mechanism/parts. Need to rectify the mess as I like my VWs stock!

can someone clarify that the shim for the B-pillar is correct? I don't have this nor have I seen one of them before...

NaFe
The pictured shim is for a LHD with Sliding door on the LEFT and thus isn't correct for the RHD EBs. It was put here just to give an idea.

#38/#25 are missing alright. Thanks. I asked the same question on the samba as well and I was made to realize that I dont have the outer sliding door handle lock collar (chrome ring) as well, which serve as a guide bushing and is placed where the lock deadbolt engages.

@marco as far as the resto is concerned, still fishing all the missing bits. I am off the kind who believes in starting ground up, i.e. suspension/drive terrain first, while fishing out all the parts needed to complete the project and once the parts are all there, resto goes ahead. No heading forward without all the bits on the shelf.

To know more about the resto on this oldest surviving early bay of Pakistan, please read here: http://pacvwr.forumstopic.com/t70-m...w-light-rhd-t2a-bay-window-walkthrough-deluxe

my last bus was a RHD (albeit a bit of a dog) and my current LHD bus doesn't have this shim...which is why I thought I would check. maybe this is why my slider will not open/close/pull in as good as I thought it should no matter how much adjustment.

Yep this could very much be the reason. You should get a shim and see if that helps.

Does anyone have idea where can I get that little spring that goes on the catch that's bolted onto the body to keep the slider door open? I have the catch but the catch is missing the tiny tiny spring on it. Thanks

Its this catch I am refering to (and if you could see, the tiny spring on it that's what missing on my catch)

anyone know how thick this shim is?
don't mean to steal your thread.

NaFe

They are about 1mm. Due to manufacturing "tolerances" there are sometimes more than one or none. All the shim does is vary the distance of the stop or closed position of the sliding door.
Not enough shim and the door is not snug and rattles. Too much and it gets hard to close.

If you can't find one then they are simple to cut from a bit of sheet off cut.

Jeffrey in Holland has the springs. Tell him I sent you!:

Ok while I was hunting the slider mechanism/catches/latches and handles, this thread was very helpful but unfortunately, I missed out #9 in this pic, i.e. the rear striker plate VW part #214843635B so everything else has made it to Pakistan and today when I was assembling all the bits after refreshing every roller/mechanism and getting ready to put the slider back on my van after donkey years I realized i was still missing the rear striker plate :(

I know (now) VWH sells these but since it wasn't pointed out so I didn't order one and I am stuck now with no rear striker plate. can someone please tell me if I could mount the slider and keep it from opening while the van is in motion (though I know i might not but still want to confirm)?
