saw this on ebay, genuine laminated VW screen, in the bristol area i think.

not a bad price.

Where danbury are based.

Doubled checked and its deffo them selling them, as they offer heated front screen as an option on their vans.

Thanks Dancing Bay....

Toby the wonderdog has (thankfully) recovered fully from his experience, although was decidedly stressed when I did get him out of the bus upon our arrival back home.....as soon as he saw us and realised he was home he was ok though. Lots of tail wagging!!

Thankfully it wasn't a cold night when we came back, if it had been the middle of winter he would have froze!

Certainly something to bear in mind though if you travel with pets on your hols, may be worth checking with your recovery service as to their policy on pets...

And on the subject of heated screens, yes they are indeed Danbury ones. I've got a heated screen in my daily drive Fiesta, and you can see lots of fine vertical lines in it, presumably the Danbury ones would be the same? I'm not sure that I wouldn't find it a bit irritating to look at on such a big screen as in a bay. Very nice on a cold winters' morning mind....

I reckon a heated screen would be a good idea, well worth the extra.
Does it affect sat nav operation through a heated screen though?

Don't know if they are selling the heated screens? Only seen the normal laminate ones that they have taken out. Might be worth giving them a ring?

I'd assume they have the fine lines in though as I think thats the heating element?

My tip is to go laminated with the tint, might as well buy a new rubber if the old one is "old" I've replaced mine and they are fantastic. My old one was laminated as well, but it copped a stone which turned int o a long semi vertical crack right in front of my eyes. Very distracting, but the new one is invisible. The other one was probably a bit sand blasted as well making the new screen even clearer by comparison.

My wife called me last night, she working away. She badly cracked her windscreen on the M6 (New Beetle) and so rang Autoglass when she got to work (Wolverhampton).

They gave her an appointment for Monday afternoon in Gloucester to get it fixed ....

What happened to the mobile emergancy fitting service? :?

Dash looks good, good luck with the screen, a tint would really suit it i think, if they had a red one it would look the dogs.
Know what you mean about the recovery driver though.
I broke down on the way back from vanfest last year with my wife and at the time, my 6 month old son!
AA sent a truck and a big sweaty bloke got out, looked like something from the hill billys chewing a match. started to winch the bus up and says "bit low that" as he rips the spots of the bottom of the bumper on his corrugated deck! He didn't even stop, i started boiling when my brand new, fitted at vanfest, Mondo hit the road as the bus gets higher on the truck! "f@@king hold on!" i yelled, the misses was shocked to say the least, she couldn't believe what was happening! He walked round the back with the remote thing in his hand and gives it one more tug just to really dig it into the road! "can't do nowt about that he said." i was shaking, wanted to really lamp him but its not the right thing to do when your 6 month old kid is watching laughing. so i got my spanners out and took it off. To cap it all off we had to sit for the next 1 1/2 hours in the back of his sweaty truck while he played touchy feely all the way home with his monster of a chav girlfriend!
Worst breakdown ever, after that the good thing that came out of it is, now i've got a nice 1915cc in the bus i've built myself and would trust it to go anywhere! And i always laugh when i think of it, i woud of loved to be someone else watching it all go on!

Blimey 71bay, that sounds like a nightmare...

at least you can laugh about it now though.

Well Beeglebus is at last back on the road with his new screen,....not without the odd hiccup mind. Autoglass came to our h/a on Friday and fitted it with the new German seal that I provided. When I got home and checked it though, the fit wasn't that great... :? The rubber was about 1/8th of an inch away from the panel in one corner and the rubber didn't look fat enough.

So back on the phone to Autoglass, who were absolutely fine about it, and said they'd fix it, but not before monday....

so I took it back today, this time with a fatter (brazilian) rubber, and now it looks a lot better. I watched them fit it, and it was a much tighter fit with the fatter rubber, so that should work better. It also looks better on the van.

So, top tip... it may be worth considering a brazilian screen rubber if you have any concerns about getting a tight fit, as it were...

Carole, shame your recovery driver was a ****, so bothered about not geting his cab dirty and dog hair free but not so bothered about the way your van was loaded. see the straps in your pic, they should not share a central mount point they should have been seperate. good job they held up. name and shame i say, what company was he from?
i always let people eat and drink/smoke, and let dogs in my tryck although i dont get many like that as i only pick up big trucks.
nice van by the way ;)

Sat Nav works fine through a heated screen (got one in my daily - Ford Focus)!
