battery problems

running a dynamo on an early bay, ive had a couple of batteries die since getting the van, nothing obviously wrong gonna change the brushes in the dynamo and try clean it, is it easy to check if its producing current/ voltage as it should. i see theres some guidance in the haynes manual. could it be the regulator? any advice ta

Clip a hand held volt meter on the battery & rev the engine. See what volts it makes. Should be over 13.5v, you can test it at the regulator too & see if there is any difference.
