Bears/Cogbox or Rancho

Gang,

Looking for my gearbox to be overhauled and refreshed with a higher top gear for motorway speeds.

Here are my choices, all are approximately the same price

Bears - Pros - Like their professional approach and attention to detail. Cons - 120 miles away

Cogbox - Pros - Round the corner from me Cons - Some people have reported issues.

Rancho - Pros - New gearbox, can get delivered to my house FOC. Cons - Do not have 1 on 1 contact not sure what would happen if there are issues. Not my original gearbox.

Opinions?

I had mine done by bears. Very happy. Good service and happy to go thru options with you. And your also covered if you use it on the strip if you ask him.

Bears every day of the week

They did mine and although it didn't work the first time he had it back no question and put it right pretty damd quick

To me this is where Bears impressed me, they couldn't do enough.

And as there was lots done on the box i was not that bothered that the first try was not successful.

One of my mates is having a T3 box done for his split this is what he has been quoted by Bears,
Both carry BEARS warranty with occational strip use included

Option 1 includes the following

4 spider gear superdiff
stock flanges and diff gears
Aluminium HD side cover
1302 mainshaft with 091 uprated 1st idler gear
early 3rd and 4th gear sets with welded dog rings
split bus nose cone and hockey stick

Price £ 1110.00 plus vat maxm 110 hp

Option 2 as option 1 but 091 modified mainshaft,supersplines and 091
bus flanges

Price £ 1315.00 plus vat maxm 130hp

Have included rpm/mph plot with the ratios suggested

I had an 091 box rebuilt by cogbox which at the time (2 years ago) cost me £650 to have rebuilt with taller 4th and with 204 bhp porsche engine slaped on the back, never had a problem with it but then only used it for 1000 miles.

If you want a box running back to bears I can stick it in the van at the weekend, they used to be in the centre of town but I'm not sure where they are now.

I run down to London often enough at the moment so I'm sure I could get the box back to you as well at some point, let me know on Saturday,
