Hi
I have a 1989 1.6 turbo diesel VW Westfalia California campervan, which was serviced a bout a month ago. Yesterday, I checked the oil and was surprised to see very little in the tank. The garage said they had filled it, but gave me more oil anyway.
There is no oil leak, well there's no wet patch on the concrete drive, to indicate such a leak, so maybe the oil fairy comes during the night.
I have decided I better buy some, just to keep in the van for when I am away; the van is also my daily runner. the mechanic suggested a 10 40 semi sythetic oil, but of course there are many to choose from
There's a Halfords 'own brand' and the far more costly branded oils.
Which would people recommend please. I don't want to ruin my engine for a few extra quid, but don't like buying branded goods just for the sake of it. If the folk here tell me that brand X is worth paying twice the price ... I'll certainly buy it, but just want to make sure.
thanks in advance !!
