Spied a few buses on the road back from Woolacoombe, had a great weekend good weather and the camp was not bad. Did beach walking for 2 days for a change and was great. Winter is drawing near and that was possibly the last trip? Pippa said to me today she is getting withdrawal symptoms and I agreed.

May be away for the winter????? Depends on the weather. Wire is for heater and for ctek charger.

Shelf being varnished for storage which goes across and above the front seats in the pop top area.
Winter jobs now we have used him quite a bit. Have a great week everyone.

Managed a few jobs this weekend. Supplied by a fellow forum member now cleaned and drying.
New side step rubbers. One done one just cleaned. Have used oil softener from the printing industry to rejuvenate.

Replaced the water supply pipe to the washing up sink so the water now does not taste like plastic.
Managed to re programme the radio so our old ipod will play all our old music stored thereon.

And a beautiful sunset to end the weekend. Have a good week folks.(From upstairs window).

Tried to set carb up over last weekend and seems to be dribbling down inside.
Thoughts are it is the float adjustment and that will also account for the flooding when parked nose up.
So running rich is better than lean and Pippa wanted a ride out so we took a trip to Plymouth to see my
son who is at uni there.
There and back no problems just idle is far to low. However it is now lay up time and engine out time.
The usual oil leaks and a host of parts accumulated that need installing.

HMS Argos just leaving port as we finished lunch and about to set off home.
Well have a warm winter everyone and I will hopefully get to the garage as soon as the parts start to arrive.

Just had a good read through your thread - some really great work and some great trips on here!

Which golf belts did you use? I'm looking at some inertia belts but the £50 'camper' ones are a bit steep - would be ideal if I could get a pair from a breakers/ebay!

So this weekend was spent spending, we now have

Oil, Gearbox oil, Rear main oil seal, Gearbox oil seal, New push rod tubes, New fuel filter,
New flaps for engine, Carb rebuild kit, New gasket set, New service kit and some bits for inside.
Should keep us busy during the winter lay up. Few more bits still to arrive but you get the idea.
Also managed to sneak in a new set of reverse/fog lamps to replace the large ish ones on now.

Hopefully remember to take a few pics along the way. Don't get toooo cold this winter.

And so the winter teardown begins.
So many questions running through my brain.

These were the start and explained a lot about the stalling after idling for to long....icing up me thinks.

They don't last forever and over time have burnt through next to the VS exhaust. Have now got exhaust wrap
so hopefully easy repair.

Oil cooler is spotless with no muck anywhere, hopefully will not disturb.
Turns out the R9 hose from pump to carb is still good and the specialist piece of hose from pump to tank
is like new still.

Loads more to go. Have a good week everyone.

After doing some research and keeping an eye on ad's , looking for gold, yes that piece that goes over the
front of the engine over the gearbox. Now becoming very rare. So spotted 2   on the Facebook thing and asked straight away how much as they are originals. Suffice to say the gent wanted 400 quid a piece.
That I can not do for a piece of tin. The only reason I was looking for one is that mine was cut to fit the dog leg.
So bought one for 15 quid, drilled the spot welds out and a mate of mine is going to spot weld the two new
pieces together. Result I reckon.

Also managed this week to remove the broken piece of the petrol pump stem stuck in the engine.

Just might get there.

Hey Andy ,we will get there, eventually
Have to be ready for the EB meet, if any. :)
Top money for top parts I guess.

Winter chaos and all sorts of things found , help begged from some and reply's that made life so much easier.
Thanks to those bugged and to those that are yet to be, please be kind. My first rebuild.

Have a good weekend chaps'

So these were given to me and I don't know anything about them other than they are SP heads.
Now I don't need them and was wondering if anybody wanted them. The hassle will be the transport
if you need them. I will take measurements if you want me to before you commit. They are in Somerset.
Just pm me and we can arrange.

Other than that bits and pieces being done over the Xmas break whenever possible.
Managed to clear the blocked heater tubes with 8 days of soaking in CAUSTIC SODA , changing every day and the using a staunch piece of cable and my drill. Managed to clean them out.

Preparation after a mate spot welded the two back together and then painted with primer before black spray when weather improves.

Enjoy your time out if you have some with family and friends.

I love Boris! This is also the name we were considering for our bus

Great thread

Hey Abby ,
The bus came to us with the name and the whole family agreed it was cool, so stayed.
He is different and an individual like his namesake ;) ;)
You keep at that popping corn!!!!!!

We loves him loads.

Ours came with two odd names... the Rat Bus (of course) and Frogmella!! Neither of which suit him I don't think... I also don't think he was particularly loved before either! Needs something new.

Can't wait to see what's next for yours!
