Hello everyone,

After a great success last year with more than 40 cars attending, the Christmas cruise is on again this year.
It is taking place on Sunday 16th of December meeting on the Bristol Downs at 1pm - see the start place on the map. The cruise will start at 2pm sharp(ish) so please try arrive not much later than close to 1.30.

This is the route the cruise will take

Much more detailed instructions for the route can be found here:

http://www.jamestapper.co.uk/Cruiseroute2007.pdf

It has been modified slightly since last year due to a few traffic flow issues, particularly with problems over the suspension bridge. This year we will only drive under the bridge rather than over it.

The cruise will end up at the Golden Heart pub, Winterbourne. This is just off the Bristol ring road, with easy access to the M4 and M5.

Last year lots of cars were decorated for the event with lights, tinsel etc which was brilliant and really made people stop and stare even more - So this year, the more tinsel, fairy lights and other Christmassy tat the better!

There will be chocolate PRIZES! For the best decorated vehicle and the furthest travelled!

All old VWs are welcome - that includes T25s, new beetles, mk1/2 golfs etc. I'm not gonna say someone can't come!

If you have any problems or questions before the event, then email [email protected].

If you have any problems (break-downs etc) on the day or during the cruise, you can ring me on O79O5 I99849.
Please also feel free to bring walkie talkies on the cruise – we used them last year with some success.

Finally, if you are arriving from the North of Bristol on the M5, or on the M4, this map should help you arrive at the cruise start point.

And here are some more detailed instructions with photos.

If you arriving from the South on the M5, I’m afraid I couldn’t do a photo version of the route, but here is the map from the M5 junction

If you are arriving from somewhere other than the M4/M5, I suggest you click on this link - http://tinyurl.com/yqpsmf - and then change the “start location” to your postcode – Google maps should then give you full directions for getting to the start point.

So I will leave with a few pictures and a video of last year's cruise...
(thanks Saraj for some of the pictures)

Everyone had a great (if not rather chaotic) time last year - so let's make it a good one this year too :)

Hey all, long time, no posting.

We attended the cruise before Christmas, over 100 vehicles (I think the official count was 110??) It was great. We didn't go in Blue though as she still has her engine in bits (thanks to GSF for giving us wrong parts so couldnt finish her!). So we went in the ugly high top in Limey Greeney, with tinsel, spray on snowflakes and Santa window stickers, Yay!

Did anyone else go? Didn't really manage to speak to many folks, being a newbie and feeling a little shy!

Will try and find some of the pics we took and post them.

Only just seen your reply on this thread.

Think I remember a lime green hightop :)

The official count was 105 cars I think. :)

Glad you enjoyed it, although it's a shame I didn't get to speak with you (Or most people, for that matter!) It was a madly busy day :)

True, it was soooo busy!
Wonder what the count will be next year?
Hope to have Blu up and running well before then, she is still in the garage, I have been doing the odd bit, found a sink and cooker, all good! Ebay has its uses! Just need to get her bubbling again and make her pretty.
Still not gotten 'round to getting our photos sorted, will have another pop this week.

I was there 8) love it
