Hello everyone,

After a great success last year with more than 200 cars attending, the Christmas cruise is on again this year.
It is taking place on Sunday 14th of December meeting on the Bristol Downs at 1.30pm - see the start place on the map. The cruise will start at 2pm so please try arrive on time.

This is the route the cruise will take

http://tinyurl.com/BristolChristmascruise2008

Much more detailed instructions for the route can be found here:

http://krazydubclub.co.uk/crimbocruise/Cruiseroute2008.pdf - if possible PLEASE PRINT THESE DETAILS SO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING. The aim is to also have small signs by the roadside at all the major junctions, marked with a VW logo or similar.

The route has been modified since last year due to a few traffic flow issues.

The cruise will end up at the Golden Heart pub, Winterbourne. This is just off the Bristol ring road, with easy access to the M4 and M5.
Some hot food will be availiable at the pub - details will be posted nearer the time.

A suggested minimum of £1 per person contribution is asked for - the proceeds will be split between Brads Cancer Foundation (http://www.brads.org.uk/) and Props (Providing Opportunities and Support for those with special needs) (http://www.props4ward.org/). This will be collected from the same table as the hot drinks at the start of the cruise. A limited number of special edition 'Bristol Christmas Cruise' stickers will be availiable for the first people to donate :)

Hot food will also be available at the downs before the cruise from Steve of Cookin' Camper (http://cookincamper.co.uk/index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) as well as free hot drinks provided by Danbury motorcaravans (Again, donations for charity would be appreciated)

Last year lots of cars were decorated for the event with lights, tinsel etc which was brilliant and really made people stop and stare even more - So this year, the more tinsel, fairy lights and other Christmassy tat the better!

There will be chocolate PRIZES! For the best decorated vehicle and the furthest travelled!

All old VWs are welcome - that includes T25s, new beetles, mk1/2 golfs etc. I'm not gonna say someone can't come!

If you have any problems or questions before the event, then email [email protected]. If you would like to email me on the above address, I can email you a reminder or any up-to-date information regarding the event.

If you have any problems (break-downs etc) on the day or during the cruise, you can ring me on O7528 572763.
Please also feel free to bring walkie talkies on the cruise – we used them last year with some success.

Finally, if you are arriving from the North of Bristol on the M5, or on the M4, this map should help you arrive at the cruise start point.

And here are some more detailed instructions with photos.

If you arriving from Anywhere else, use this link
http://tinyurl.com/ChristmascruiseM4
and then change the start point 'A' on the LHS to your postcode/start point. Google maps should then provide you with a route to the cruise start point on the Bristol Downs/overlooking the suspension bridge.

Huge thanks to all those who have helped with the organising - Shamrockez, Dagg's, The CCR Beaver, Rob75, Kank, Flying Split (for hosting the files on the Krazy Dub Club website). Thanks also to those who took the pictures and videos used in this thread.

Finally, a few videos of the cruise in previous years..

Everyone had a great (if not rather chaotic) time last year - so let's make it a good one this year too :)

Defo going to this, have done previous years and is a good crack for sure

:D Fair enough.

Been told this evening that Danbury motorcaravans will be providing free teas and coffee at the Downs before the start of the cruise :D - so a huge thanks to them

Just a quick update :D

Steve from Cookin'Camper will be attending the cruise and selling hot food at the downs before the cruise :)

All ingredients are locally sourced and freshly prepared - and I'm sure warm food would be appreciated, especially by those who have travelled long distances :) (It would be nice to have a rough idea of numbers, too).

Menu to be confirmed, but soups and bacon rolls look likely :)

For more information, check out his website http://cookincamper.co.uk/index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

:)

2 weeks to go now!

8)

For all those who are attending, just a quick update...

As well as Steve @ cookin'camper before the cruise, there will also be hot stew @ the pub after the cruise. £4.00 ish, also the pub kitchen will be open but only limited availability (first come first served)

Hopefully we may have sorted extra parking at the pub too :D

:D

Just another quick update...

Designed and donated to the cause by Rod at Engravatec Bristol ( http://www.engravatec.co.uk/ ) I give you Bristol Christmas Cruise 2008 Stickers!

vwstickers.jpg

So a huge thanks to Engravatec!

These will be availiable alongside the free tea and coffee. Minimum donation £1, and every penny you donate goes straight to charity!

There will be a limited quantity so make sure you get yours ;)

:D

I can reveal the chocolate tin prizes look like this (And if you're lucky, the tins will still have the chocolate in them, too  )

Huge thanks to the CCR Beaver / Sarah for supplying & painting them for us :D

One goes to the furthest travelled to the cruise, and one for the best decorated car... so get decorating ;)

Righty, well the cruise is tomorrow now :D

Beaver and I have spent all afternoon putting these signs up across Bristol.

These should give a rough indication to the cruise route :)

BBC weather reckons it'll be dry, so hopefully everyone should have a good day tomorrow. Can't wait :D

:D

Glad to see such a great turnout to the cruise.

Just to let everyone know... we had over 190 vehicles attend this year :)

Also, we raised £349.27 to be split equally between the two charities.

Hope everyone who attended it enjoyed it :)
