I have also fitted mine recently and found it was fine. In conjuntion, I also found out I was only getting partial throttle opening at the back, so was able to weight the pedal down, adjust at the engine end, then make sure when the throttle came off that it wasn't still pulling the carb butterliies open. In the end I bought a new throttle cable to use - multi-strand ones seem much more flexible and compliant than the original single wire.
I found my old accelerator linkage to have been 'improved' by jaming in a wooden wedge to reduce the free play! Also the amount of grease applied to 'lubricate' (disguise?) everything was clogging up the return, so I cleaned it all off and used light oil instead - also dribbled some down both ends of the throttle cable sleeve. I also found that I had to fit a stronger spring to the lever arm on the throttle pull inside the belly pan. Now everything is really crisp.
I found that I had to shorten the Butty's Bits kit longer link-rod slightly to get the full adjustment I needed as it was minned-out (i.e opposite of maxxed out!) and still some free play - now all sorted.
I also fitted a Just Kampers new throttle hinge/ hinge-pin and return spring kit at the same time - after discovering the original hinge to have been wedged with another wooden sliver. That piece of kit did need some more midification too, basically put a bar throught the coil spring and formed another turn, which shortens the length of the acuating arm and increases the spring pressure.

Anyhow, with a new cable, Butty's bits kit, improved throttle hinge/ spring, and a new coil spring on the end of the lever arm, it behaves beautifully. No slop. Throttle comes back when you let go, feels lovely and firm and reponsive.
