Hi everyone, this is my first post on here and I'd be grateful for some advice, I've got a 1972 crossover Westy and I'm looking to pep up the the engine without tinkering with the internals, it's fitted with a standard type 4 2.0 litre engine and I'm considering a carb swap and a new exhaust to give her a little boost, I was considering the Weber 32/36 progressive carb kit and I'm undecided about the exhaust but I've narrowed it down to the Vintage Speed, the SSP stainless or if I won the lottery the CSP Python, any advice to a good set up would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Nick

Avoid a single carb on a type 4 if you want more go. In fact avoid a single all together.
Dells work well

itcs,36 dell or weber all fine as long as you get them jeted correctly, any of those exhausts fine.

Cheers peeps, since posing the question I've trawled through the forum and seen quite a lot of negative comments about the single weber progressive carb so I'm considering the 34 ICT's, TBH didn't like the look of the intake manifolds anyway, how long!
The only question I have is the ICT's dont have a choke, is that gonna be a problem when it comes to starting the van?

Many thanks

Nick :D

I changed my worn out twins for a single progressive weber. Big improvement at the time but now I have a brand new type 4 engine thinking about splashing out on a set of recon twins as there's a lot more to come out of the engine and only getting 15mpg. If you've got the funds go for refurbished twins

I run a 2lt type4 with dell 40's no chokes use it all year never a problem to start, just needs a couple of pumps on the throttle to get it going.

Cheers mate, just one more question and then I'll shut up, will there be any benefit to me using twin 40's on my otherwise standard engine or is that gonna be overkill? Would the 34 ICT's be a more sensible option.

Cheers

Nick

I have ICT's on a 2L and the lack of choke is no problem ^^ WHS a couple of pumps.
