The GPS aerial needs to "see" the sky./quote]
I have just fitted a Skytag tracker and within 5 minutes the guy on the other end of the phone could pinpoint my bus to within a metre. And the unit is definitely not in sight of the sky, being tucked away in the roof lining, with the metal skin of the bus between it and the satellite.
A case of 'you get what you pay for' perhaps?

The on/off button stays on once you connected it upto the battery. The current draw is very small so should be ok for a few months. The unit itself has a battery back up.
The GPS aerial needs to "see" the sky. I've mounted mine directly under the central speaker in the top of the dash. Once you've fitted them both and turned it on, if you get a flashing green and a flashing red LED after a minute or 2 all is well. If not you've probably fitted them the wrong way round. Best to trial fit before fitting in the van!
Sounds like you've lost your instructions? You could probably get a replacement set by email CGMart.
