Had a problem with the rear off-side lights which was solved by cleaning all connections/earth points but now neither reversing light works. Checked fuses, all OK but have since been told there is an extra fuse for the reversing lights not in the fuse box.

Is this true? and if so where is it?

Many thanks in advance

My previous bus was a 71 crossover and yes there was a separate fuse for the reverse lights. If I remember correctly it should be on the LH side of the engine bay on the wire that goes to the reverse lamp switch. Its a black twist open fuse holder.

You can just see it far left on the picture 1.2 on the following link.

Hope this helps

Sorry to say no fuse in the position shown in the photo.

Have traced wires as far as possible, one to an earth and the other to a juntion box on the roof on right hand side of the engine bay, from here I think it goes to the coil.

The reverse lights normally take power from the coil but your junction box is something that has been added at a later date. The wiring should run via a fuse to the gearbox where the switch is located and then out to the lights. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/wiring/baybus_71b.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks for the help,

The juntion box turned out to be a relay.

Have now rewired the lights from the coil/gearbox switch and all working.

Cheers
