If I have got it right, it's the cooker that comes out from behind teh passenger seat? If so, do you use yours, is it a pain to use? Do you wish you could use say a danbury style one from the cargo area or do you find it's perfectly fine? Are you a little person or a big person?
Thanks for your time, I'm just researching for which cooker I will go for in my interior

I have a dormobile with the cooker behind the passenger seat, works fine - I sit on the drivers seat & cook from there, It suits us at the moment cos we have 3 kids so its sort of out of the way. Used to have a Devon conversion with the cooker in the cupboard behind the driver that was ok too. Both have benefits & pitfalls so best to try one out I guess?
I have been thinking about making a frame for the dormobile cooker & then having it "quick" detachable to allow it to be used outside havent got round to it yet though.

Cool thankyou for the reply, mentioning the kids helped too. I have 2 bratlings for my sins :)

Do you really want to cook food in your van, do you cook in your bedroom at home :?:

Personal view I know but have spoken to quite a few who have the same view, best option in my opiion is a portable cooker that you can use by the side slider (spice rack table on a westy is ideal for this) or in the awning if you have one.

Also means you can be sociable when camping with a group of people and cook together like we did at Stanford Hall

never found any difficulties using the Dormy cooker, cab door open (when not windy,or you'll blow the flame out!),stand infront and you're away!

i had one and took it out! didnt like the idea of spattering bacon fat all over my dash and windscreen!

Yes I use mine. The Dormy cooker has a 3 sided folding ally panel that stands on the cooker to keep the wind off and to stop splashing - though frying stuff inside any van is a bad idea no matter what design cooker you have IMO.

The alloy panel folds up and is clipped to the bulkhead behind the drivers seat.

Thanks again to everyone taking the time to reply :)

Graham, no I wouldn't normally cook in my bedroom  , but I want to be able to cook in the van if I want as the whole idea of it to me is to be able rock up, put the handbrake on and be camping rain or shine without worrying too much about putting an awning etc up/out before anything else can be done:)

I hear what yr saying about frying splashes. You all need one of these

A splatter guard for teh frying pan.

I think Lofty is on the right track with adapting the dormy cooker to be removable if wanted :)

Those spatter guards work and stop the majority of splashes - pity they cant stop your bedroom from smelling like bangers though
