Teehehe.. Yes, I am thinking about what could go in a hole.....

The large 'inspection' hole on wide-5 brake drums.

I am planning to run without hubcaps, but will that mean the hole will allow debris and dirt to enter the drum?

I used the hole to put a screwdriver blade through to turn the adjusters on the the brake shoes.

I think that's what the hole is for. :p

I'm guessing that with a wheel on the drum its usually covered so nothing would normally get in the drum

Yeah, that's what it's for and yup, it'd normally be covered by the hubcap. If you measure the hole there may be a tube cap of the correct size on ebay- that might be a neat solution (of the type you'd find at the end of a chair leg, although you may have to trim the length with a bread knife)

Thanks guys :party0047:

Great suggestion with the tube cap! I will have a look for a set of 4 :party0021:

Wonder if it's the same size as the bung for the rear drum inspection holes: https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/bay-bus/113609163/rubber-bung-brake-back-plates/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Either way, a simple grommet should do the trick, and a smooth top one would look pretty nice

Good point, I have a few of those, so I will find out. ;)
