Hi

I'm thinking of upgrading my enginer but going for a 1700cc with slide in 88mm pistons and 90.5/92mm cylinder heads, has anyone done this set up or had experience with AA Performance Products?
Here's the write up for the set up

Any input would be appreciated

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve

I have used and sold LOTS of the AA B&P kits and they are great value.

I presume you have a 1600cc engine.

You will be able to go for 1641cc very easily without modifying the cylinder heads or cases. This uses the 87mm piston and barrel kits:

https://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Barrel-Piston-kit-1641cc-87mmx69mm-Repro-AC198870R_act_shop.product_pID_19649725.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You wont be able to run 90.5mm heads on 88mm B&P's. The 88mm piston and barels have a stock sized outer bore. 90.5mm are larger.

Anything further will require some machine to your case and cylinder heads.

Do feel free to give me a call or email if you want to talk through this further:

Hope this helps

Hi Steve

Yes lots of people fit the 87mm 1641cc B&P's

I think it's the confusion of your questions versus the article you posted.

I have very rarely heard of people using the 87mm to 90.5mm B&P's that they talk of in the article that makes a 1679cc, mainly due to the fact that if you go down this route you need to either have your stock cylinder heads machined or buy a new pair of cylinder heads.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Alex
