So how big is 'big' with regard fire extinguishers? 2kg, 5kg?

I'm very paranoid about fires too, such a scary thought

I've moved my filter out of the engine bay as I started to get paranoid.
Everywhere I looked there were stories of fires etc!

Chris - any idea how big/tall that is?

Where do you plan on keeping it?

And I plan on keeping it in the behind my drivers seat walk through in the corner will look at fixing it when it comes But I will probably bungee it to the leg of the middle seat somehow :?

That extinguisher is fine - the right type and size. The small powder ones are useless for engine fires.

I had a lucky escape a couple of years ago. Went out one morning, very strong smell of petrol by bus, had filled up day before and tank was empty?

The plastic fuel filter had somehow dropped onto the manifold and the heat from the manifold had melted a small hole through it.

Now have filter outside engine bay under bus!

This is worth a read if you haven't seen it...How to put your van fire out - written by a van owning fireman who's van caught fire while he was driving it. :)

Good point think I'll relocate mine when the engine goes back in. Also thinking of fitting an elecrtronic soleniod just after the tank thats only open when ignition is on. so if hose breaks and ignition is turned off it stops the tank draining.
