Does anyone have the fitting instructions for an Empi Hurst style gear stick (ball top with trigger for reverse), as just received a supposed brand new one (clearly not brand new) off fleabay and its got no fitting instructions and only 1 fitting bolt, i'm guesing i can just re-use the bolts on the current gearstick.

doesn't it come with 2 differet spacers :? ....you choose the one that would put the pivot x cm below the base of the stick :? ...or something like that  ........

...but yea into 2nd gear and straight swap......will look out my instructions if i can find them....

This was the first major thing i did to my van. Dunno if i was just unlucky but it was not a straight swap :?
Took 10 minutes to fit the stick and about 2 hours to adjust the position of the shifter so that i got all my gears and yes i did put it in 2nd

I must admit it makes the van nice to drive around town because of the 40% reduction in the throw bewteen gears

Thanks i managed to get a copy of the instructions from Vw Heritage, and yes it looks like it should have 2 spacers, 2 bolts and 2 washers, i've contacted the seller and he aint interested  , he said i got what was advertised and said the gear stick is brand new as described, which it clearly isnt as it shows definite signs of previous use, so just had to fill out a dispute claim through paypal

I fitted one to my '70 camper and there is little room to use the handbrake when in first gear - is this normal?

may have one of the spacers...with the instructions...bolts are simple bound to be 10mm ones ;)

Hope you get some of yer hard-earned cash back, Paypal is great for this - They freeze the money so he'll have to do something!

i have this in my 1970. it's because the handbrake needs adjusting. they should really only come out about 7-8 clicks but i expect there are many bays out there with a poorly adjusted handbrake, mine being 1 of them
