I am afraid this question relates to our 74 crewcab so not an early bay. The problem is with our clutch or gearbox not sure which. When we went to pull away from brighton breeze last year I put the van in to gear lifted my foot of the clutch, the van did not want to move forward and then stalled. it was a bit like starting a car when it is still in gear which leads me to think it is the clutch. We took the engine out to have the rear wheel arches and a quarter panel replaced and are now ready to put the engine back in but need to rectify this problem first.

Has any body had any similar experiences to this. Any sujestions would be gratefully recieved as I would rather not have to keep taking the engine out.

So what did you do, get it recovered from there or what? Has it been driven since then? Did the clutch bite in the normal place?

Could be the brakes seized on?

We had the van towed home and it has not be driven since. The brakes are fine as we have been pushing it in and out of the garage to work on. The hand brake comes on and off. On the way down to brighton we did have trouble pulling out of the services but then thought nothing else of it. My better half also says she smelt something eggy not sure if thats relavent but that could of been me.(ha ha) :cool0008:

Ok you already have the engine out so all you need to do is put the handbrake on,select neutral. You should be able to turn the input shaft on the gearbox freely, try it with pliers to be sure.If it won't turn you have a gearbox problem.
