Hi everyone.
I've had my bay for nearly two years, done plenty to it to keep it running, my main goal is to reduce the rust to paint ratio.
I'm a member of my local club and use a few forums for gathering info but thought I should join this one and say Hi seeing as I just qualify for entry. :D

Heres a picture of my van.
Look forward to chatting and improving my knowledge base.

I also have a Passat, most of a Buggy I'm yet to finish and a rusty old Caddy that I'm sitting on for a future project.

Nice bus, the interior looks very comfortable.

Welcome to EB. ;)

I have another rust free front door to go on it and I want to change the tailgate and sliding door. The front cross member needs doing and it needs a coat of paint and the bottom of the back 2 side windows.
Other than that its staying as it is. Just gonna use it.
:D

I've had a few running and setup issues with the carbs but I think I'm nearly there, I think its currently a bit lean. I'll get out in the shed tomorrow and sort that, have to do my homework and read my Dell techbook again first. Its backfiring and I've fixed all exhaust leaks and I'm sure there is now intake leaks and tried several other things so mixture is next on the list.

Put some new tyres on the front yesterday, transformed the handling.
:)
Didn't realise the ones that were on it weren't commercial rated.

Well spotted.

I was gonna go with Waxy considering the amount of waxoyl I covered it in, not all of it ending up on the bottom!! A friend mentioned Waxer and where it came from, (I've also seen the film several times but don't have his sort of memory) and I thought it would be better.

It wasn't always like that
Its had the bottom back 6 inchs, new passengers door and rebuild kit, Saab seats, welding on inner arches and new carpet around back seats and floor. (still have all the old deluxe inner panels, front seats and middle seats).
Replacement gearbox, wheels powder coated, exhaust, twin 40 dells, leisure battery, new engine components (coil, points, leads, plugs, deep sump etc) and many many hours of fiddling, tweaking, making worse, improving, etc etc.
haha

Pictures tell a better story, I love my Bus but man does it keep me busy!!
That is the point of me owning it though.

Hi Johnny, sorry for starting a "I'm new" thread, I saw the sticky one not long after posting mine!! Couldn't see one for looking!! Or a riders rides section.
I'll find more I've missed I'm sure.
Cheers

Thanks for all the Hello's. :D

I've had a bit of a mare fitting my twin Dell's recently so gave up on fitting them and took the two off my beach buggy project, cleaned those and fitted them. It seemed to drive ok as they were also untested but rather than continuing to mess around on my own I've taken it to a pro who hopefully will cobble the whole thing into a sound, reliable, running package that I can take to Vanwest on Friday.

I'll report back on the issues he discovers in the two "poorly" carbs which may help someone else in the future.

If you see me and my Van at Vanwest in Brean then come say Hi.
Cheers
Phil

Well, the 36's are fine and working.
