Hi all im looking at a new van on saturday
So i need a list of questions to ask the seller and all the things to look for and where to look for all the potential bad things
Thanks in advance

No link sorry was on ebay but and i have paid a small depo he has taken it off

But its a 64 11 window split screen lhd
If that helps at all
Thanks

If at all possible take someone with you who knows Splitties well - where is the bus?
Over on VZi there is a list of peeps who offer their help - was the best move I made when viewing buses
http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=609868" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Only cost me about £40 for a few hours of their time and saved me ££££'s as the bus I viewed was rotten behind the shiny paint and flash wheels

If it has fresh paint ask for pics of the bus prepaint and receipts for work done
How long has the individual owned the bus?
Be wary of fresh underseal - can hide a multitude of poor patch welds and bodge jobs
Get underneath and look for oil leaks, check where it is parked for evidence of leaks
See if it starts well and idles from cold and when upto temp
Listen for any Gearbox crunches/whines when driving
Is it lowered - if so make sure it has been done correctly
Does everything work electrically?

The list is pretty endless :msn4:

Hi i have just found it on vzi the date it was posted was on the 30/04/2015 can some one have a look at it please then give me some feed back thanks

Is it this one?

What are the "few jobs needed just to tidy her up?"

I would be looking for pics of the bus before paint and looking for rust - cant see much from the pics he provided, there are no underneath shots!

Get over to the SSVC site and ask if anyone knows of the bus there - could be a good one but " I managed to leave a window open so there is some damp mildew on the inside roof" could be an indicator of a rusty roof letting water in somewhere.

Also my suspicions would be raised as it isnt advertised over on SSVC - just had a look and those guys know Splitties inside out!
If I were you I would post a link to the VZi advert and ask if anyone knows the bus/owner and could anyone give you their advice
£18.5k is a lump of cash to drop on an unknown bus - you could have a VERY nice EarlyBay for that sort of money!

Thanks again for your help
I have just registered for ssvc and awaiting confamation
Shoukd this not happen for any reason can any one on here ask for me please as im now really worred as he has no pics pre restoration or underneath the van
Thanks

Done for you buddy - see if they know any details

If this turns out to be a good bus is it a good price ?

I haven't looked at the add I depth but in the second picture you can see what looks like stains from rusty water running down the inside of the engine lid, I would take that as an indication that paint job was a cheep quick blow over with panels no being removed prepped and painted properly, I would suggest that might give you enough suspicion to go over the bus very very carefully.

Seems a touch on the cheap side for a splitty? I'd look very closely and don't let your heart rule your head.
