I like the look of this exhaust. Would there be a lot of work involved, i have the standard exhaust system.

its getting the bends in. You would have to remove the end tubes (as thats for a type 4 type engine) and replace it with some standard type flanges etc. im trying to build a stainless exhaust and trying to find the right bends is a CHUFFIN mare! its would be easy enough for a compitent welder to sort it all out just a bit of a mare. :)

those twin quiet pack whatever they're called exhausts are available for t1/2 engines, so no need to buy a t4 mounted system and cut/weld it about to fit a t1/2. as far as it being specifically empi, i think they're as rubbish (manufacture/metal quality) as any of the others? food for thought.

i put a new empi backbox on mine in jan, started a nice new shiny :D black , now about 200 miles later (stored under car port) it is a dull black with a significant amount of surface corrosion :( , about 50% of each!! wont buy another empi exhaust.. i believe mad in china!!!

These cheapo exhausts do not have a good reputation for lasting long. That said, I fitted a second hand Empi 4 tip Monza to my bus 18 months ago, and (tempting fate here!) it is still going strong and has a nice tone to it. I did give it a really good clean up first along with plenty of high temp paint, but all exhausts rot from the inside outwards. With these it is the very thin crap quality steel used that makes the outside look so bad so quickly. Also the 'chrome' on the tips rusts before your eyes, but that does not look too far out of place on my bus and I did only pay £20 including a fitting kit.
If you want an exhaust to last, forget one of these, get stainless or ceramic coated, the Bluebird stainless seems to get good reports. Remember, a reasonable quality aftermarket system will be a couple of hundred quid or more (I believe) so for less than a ton you can't expect much.
Of course a decent German standard system need not be too expensive and can last a long long time.

Not being funny but have you got a Type 4 engine as this is only for a Type 4 there is no way this will fit a Type 1 engine as its a completely different layout, if you've got a type 4 then its a simple bolt on job,

yeah, i'm with ya. i know these exhausts are slated, but i also fitted a used one after what i had prior was unusable. it gave nice clearence being tucked up into the valance and sounded nice too, not too loud etc. van always has, and still does run sweet with it. it's also been on for years now and still solid. they do look abit chavy though. i thought i'd just cut a pair of the tail pipes off and weld it up to make it look abit more humble like.

i.m.o fit a stocker and save up for stainless.
