Hi all. Those that read my recent post about wipers popping fuse.

Well got my wiper motor back and new bushes etc. Running sweet.

Put it back in all greased up etc and then turn the original switch - pop.

Took out switch from dash - fine?!

So I take it my switch is goosed and shorting through the body?

Forgot to ask before sending last post.

What modern switch type should I use?

As in....... Pole to pole etc. Oh and the sparky on my current set up has made the wipers return when off so don't know if this will effect what switch I require.

Thanks in advance.

Check that the wire between the switch and the motor is not shorting either. If you have a multi-meter you can check the resistance (without the wiper motor plugged in) to check for a short, also with the switch in the dash.

Edit to add, the switch will depend upon if you have a single speed or two speed motor. Single speed is SPST (Simple ON-OFF), two speed is SPTT (ON-ON-ON).

Have a look at Polevolt for switches and all things auto electric (http://www.polevolt.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
