Is it just me or is JK getting bitchy as the days go by?

Just seen a thread where someone asked which Awning is best, thread has now been locked. reason is there is only one type of awning, the one JK sell for 229.00.

i understand it is their forum and they dont want competition posted up there. but if thats the case dont make it so public!!!!. I remember when Justyn of Wagon wors was booted because he was advertising there. Even though JK dont lower vehicles, he was not taking business away, and when i had my first van he suggested i get some new shocks. Where would I have gotten those shocks from i wonder.

I find i am going there less and less now, and i always look elsewhere for parts first as a lot of the time i find them cheaper elsewhere for the same bit.

JKs Ok sometimes but it pays to shop around. Got my Alternator kit from Heritage with free postage. The kit itself was cheaper than JK even in their Valentines sale.
I go on the forum every now and again but its not really my cup of tea. If you want bitchy go on VZI  sometimes its great.

i do prefer Vzi, is a younger generation i find, where as I personally think JK is more for the older hippy generation,

I havent got anything against the older hippy generation, i suppose thats the one thing about JK, if you dont like VZI then you got JK.

and we have here woo hoo.

I've been booted from JK for talking to the guy from Bluebird customs about one of his westy cab bunk canvasses. Basically I have a original pair of Westy cab bunk rails but the canvas was ripped. So I asked one of the JK staff members if they would sell me a canvas from one of their kits, they said no I'd have to buy the kit. Then the guy from Bluebird customs posts me a link cos he stocks 'em and the thread was deleted. So I complained in open forum about this, because I had given JK every opportunity to sell me one of their canvases, so they banned me.

I steer clear of the place now. Don't think much of JK anyway as every order I have ever made with them has been wrong in someway. A set of spark plugs and leads, they sent only one plug.??? The oil pump that they didn't send me for 5 weeks. The poptop canvas kit, with page five missing from the instructions. The wrong points and condenser, twice and the interior panel set that was damaged and didn't fit anyway.

Sorry, I just had to get JK out of my system, it was poisoning my soul.

If in doubt go to Cool Air! they are ace 8)

I've pretty much abandoned the JK forum too - I think you either open it up to all and accept that people will talk about rivals' products, or you make it a private club where only your own items are permitted to be discussed.
At the end of the day, if they were confident in their products and pricing they wouldn't mind others discussing the quality/price/competition.
I think the way they treated Justyn was pretty shocking and cost them a lot of fans too! :x
Vote with your feet - if you don't like it don't go there and don't buy from them.
I feel so at home here... 8)

Nice people, really helpful and free online postage! plus the bits they get in are good makes such as Scat and CB performance 8)

I'm a regular poster on JK but, experience has lead me to not purchase anything from them anymore.

I'm also no hippy.

I'm also a regular on VZi. After my troubles with JK products I even pulled my shane r@JustKampers stickers off and put my '@volkzone' ones on.

There's two things wrong with JK - one's the forum and the other is the online store. I do lurk on the forums a bit but feel totally disinclined to add anything except sometimes in the Tech forum. Go on the Soapbox forum and it's like groundhog day with all those "immigrant" threads. As for buying anything from them I gave up a long time ago and prefer to use Schofields, Cool Air, Bluebird, and Retrodubs. How is it that these outfits can get things to me on time and to the correct address without levying a surcharge to the Highlands? And the Justyn and Foksy blackballing/thread deletion was childish. I like the vibe on here alot better.

hey John! i used to work in loch gilphed (sorry my spelling is rubbish!)down the road from you :D Oban is ace! 8)

So's your bus. Lochgilphead - what on earth were you up to down there - checking out JK delivery times? In that case you're probably still there. Pop in next time you're up.

I used to work on a Salmon farm there and in loch fyne 8)

I should've guessed. To live up here you're either a farmer, a forestry worker or an eastern European immigrant working in the hotel trade. There you go, by using the word "immigrant" twice in three posts I've turned EarlyBay.com into a Kamperchat lookalike and thus managed to un-hijack the thread. As you were........

found that with a lot of the camping stuff JK sells i can get the same for cheaper in Millets or similar places. Was really hacked off when i got a carbon monoxide detector from JK and saw it the following week for less then half the price in Tesco's :x
As for the forums stopped posting there a while ago as found them to be very bitchy.

Sorry to continue the post-hijack but I have fond memories of Oban and the area having been with 20 school trip to Inverliever Lodge by Loch Awe. Oban was always the big day out for our city kids would you believe!

Any way re JK - I have stopped using their forum for all the above reasons, especially the dodgy van cover I got from them. Plus the snooty replies I had to a posting which I thought may have been useful to others (including JK). Apparently I was wrong, my pitted paintwork my fault and no - noone else had similar problems.

Trouble is I think I need to buy my Devon poptop springs from them, and there were some amazing 'how to...' picture manuals too.

I stopped buying from them ages ago when i compared their prices to some of the other stores. I think a lot of people just buy there because of their 'camper knowledge' but you pay a premium for it i think  I must admit Heritage/SSP have supplied probably 85% of the parts for my resto and, apart from their stupid postage fees, i find them pretty good overall :D
As for the forum i posted once asking a question, got ignored, and never posted again  Better to stick with what you know and the friendly banter on here

Oban's a big day out for us too - we're on a small island to the south.

Yep, the Devon roof-cap and refurb kit is a good 'un and there are some very helpful users on JK who are always worth a read. And with those positive comments I've gone some way to redress my anti-JK stance.
