My 69 Panel

Thanks to Warren in wolverhampton - a thoroughly decent chap. "billyvdub"
Now renamed Jerry by the gfs daughter.
69 - Panel formerly owned by midland early bay
sold in August 2011 to a family in Wolverhampton. who whacked a rock n roll bed in it.
standard 1600 engine, lowered.

we were looking for a t5 at the time but this made us bin a sale on a t5.

I paid a lot more than I ever said I would for a bay- but this van was worth every penny IMO. - the good lady in doors agreed that to secure we needed to pay what we felt he was worth to us if he was ours.

a few little niggles: hole in the cab floor, cab locks need sorting, a headlight bulb that I need to replace and the carb was loose, but all minor things. I think the important thing is that the rest of the bus is outstanding in looks, solidness and drivability.


all in all - I think it says alot when He drove back from Wolverhampton without issue. (well Im trying to get used to LHD right hand gear changes)

Im really pleased with this purchase, although I have little history about the bus ...everyone loves history-

plans - not alot tbh - i love it just how it is- possibly signwiriting. I dont think you can have a panel without sign writing.

Monty is one sweeeeet panel,I know cos used to work for MEB and drove him to vanfest when he had 1836 and steering rack conversion.take it the drop spindles and futbus discs still on .wish my UK panel was as rust free. yes I agree all panels should be sign written ,mine will be as soon as I can get to fit the new rear side panels(some bastard put windys in)

cheers dave, I believe they are all still on. Im a little overwhelmed with him tbh - cant quite believe that Ive got him. Ive had various buses in all shapes and forms , normally at the cheap nasty end of the market. I once owned a 2007 cc split which was awesome. If i could have that engine in this panel, I may leave my Gf for him lol

dead chuffed is an understatement. Perhaps I can look at more power in the future but for now he will do

If I could ignore my family and get any bus it would be that one - the panel van porn thread on here has been a guilty pleasure of mine, even trying to convince my wife she needs an early panel to promote her online toy business on amazon but she's not buying it

I still have a few plans for the old boy which have been by the way side:

Im going to try and source some3.6mm ply and board the interior.

The signwriter to date , well for a whole month hasnt been there when ive gone to go and see him, so the super amazing quote he gave for sign writing may be wasted :-(

some of you will have seen the pic on faceache of my new screen wrap,
I think that money permitting, towards the ends of the year, id like to get the front seats and cushions for the rnr bed reupholstered in a red basket weave vinyl.
i need to get the bottom one of these fitted too

hopefully the end game as the pic has disappeared (similar to this once desgin refined)

Ive ordered one of the rat boxes from the group buy thread too. Loads of DIY van plans that I intend on having a go at, but work is a bit full on at the minute.

Im not really in Norfolk, Im in Cambridgeshire just outside Peterborough, but it states Norfolk. The old YT video was a bit pants tnh, but im in the process of putting together a new one !!
