hello
just bought my first VW, it being a '71 cali import westy and am already enjoying wire wheel strands sticking in my face from the angle grinder
anyway, can anyone tell me why some early bays have flat rear arches and some have later bay flared arches? mine are flared but are not the originals so wasnt too sure which replacement items to buy. any help would be welcome.

Hi - 71 model years (produced between August 1970 and July 1971) and all other later bays have flared arches, which were introduced to provide a little extra space for the 5 x 112 PCD wheels.

you've got the best of both worlds, low lights AND discs brakes + flared rear arches to fit fatter wheels :D

71 was a good year 8)
