I'm about to fit a set of 1641 pistons and barrels to my 1600 unit and possibly new heads if needs be. Which standard complete heads are the best to go for. I'm off to the South of France in 3 weeks time and will hopefully cover over 2 thousand miles so I want it to be right. What should I consider when running in the new setup as it won't get many miles on it beforehand? Should I just leave the engine alone until winter as it runs OK anyway and just fit my new Dell 36's in the meantime? Ooh, decisions, decisions.
 
Hmm, interesting. I was assuming that as there's no end float on the crank and it runs well then the bottom end would be OK.
 
If it is running fine as is, wait until after the trip to France to avoid any teething issues. If you are going to split the case to examine the bottom end then you could bore the case for 1776. With the dels that would make a nice motor.

yep, the more I think about it, the more I'm thinking I should leave be until I get back.
