Afternoon, new to the site, new to bay ownership.
Gotta lot of reading ahead, some very handy topics.
Just picked up a 1970 panel van, has some sign writing that I'm trying to uncover on one side.

Rust??? have I heard of that ??? Just one of the issues that comes with a fifty year old vehicle I`m afraid. Lets see if we can get some photos up to have a look. There`s a how toooo at the top of most pages. So welcome welcome and welcome

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,Did anyone mention photies ??

Hey guys!

Just picked myself up a '71 camper, so I will be trawling the millions of lines of knowledge here for the next few months while I begin the process of bringing it back to its former glory

So very glad you could join us. Now that looks like a very decent start to your project and I reckon you`d struggle to find better. Looks like one of those Devon conversions, so you might wanna read up on that style of roof. Most of us are off looking for a field somewhere for the weekend so it`ll probably be even quieter on here until Monday, Now that its stopped raining, I`m off to Dubs In The Castle over in Caldicot. Loads to read on here about most things and that should keep you busy in the evenings. Congratulations and welcome

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,Maybe a resto thread in our gallery perhaps ???

Hi all. I have Bluebell an 1970 hotpotch...she has undergone at least 2 incarnations, so I have a bit of a 'custom' on my hands. She was restored outside about 7 years ago, but for a variety of reasons her interior has remained a temporary fix. It is about time to think about what to do inside. Hopefully I will get inspiration, knowledge, some advice and help along the way and share my progress (glacial as it may be). Thanks for having me and I look forwards to contributing.

Hiya Waspman,
First off congratulations and well done on finding one. I’ve had mine quite a few years and am still contemplating exactly where I’m going with my interior . I know I don’t want a sink or a cooker inside the van cluttering it up and maybe stinking the van out although I do use a portable cooker and occasionally will make a cuppa for in bed especially on dreary mornings. For me, I need a full size rock and roll bed, a mahoosive coolbox and some music for on the move but also for party time when camping. And that’s exactly what I got. What I’m getting around to is,,,, use it as is and check out other vans and take your time working out where you wanna go with it. A van with a scabby old gazebo ain’t too shabby a combo

Ozziedog,,,,',,,,, and that’s exactly wot I got

Haha..a scabby old gazebo sounds cool. I have been trundling around for a few years now deciding what I want, but my needs change every so often and then I have to start again!! Coupled with the fact that I wouldn't know where to start building one, I am facing an uphill battle, but it is a great opportunity to learn...I think!!

Scabby old gazebo 3m X3m lightweight one, about twenty five quid from B&M bargains, plus a piece of plastic and some magnets to stop it peeing in the slider. Nice and compact when packed too. I cable tie mine to the passenger door handle with a reusable cable tie and back bumper too.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,, great for cooking in tooooo

Hi all,

I sold my late bay late last year & now hoping to get a leftie early bay

Still looking for the right bus so tried to post my works T4 LPG (Louis Bluey) & the late bay (BearShack) from last summer - Alas 'board attachment quota' has been reached or are your sniffers so good they rejected my pic as the buses were far too young

Hope this post works
Cheers...Steve

Hey Steve, and we have a few of them, me too  Photos are a bit of a constantly changing dark art since the remortgaging of photoshop. There are shed loads of how good all over this site and I think tinypics is the flavour of the month at the moment, and yes we don’t care what you got but try and get some pics up. Yeah we got some quality sniffers  or not.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, glad you came along so welcome

Hi all!

New to the forum, and new to VWs.

First daft question alert:

What conversion is this?

Thanks Tom
