sounds like a fluttering/ticking.. the faster i go, the faster the tick/flutter... its so SO annoying! would it be my speedo cable? and how can i stop it?

Thanks in advance

OK, i'll head through the spaghetti.. and while I'm there i'll put the speedo light cable i knocked out back in :D

Disconnect it at both ends and get a decent lube running through so its slowwly dripping out the bottom clear / clean oil, also check the connector and speedo for wear you've not mentioned an erratic / twitching in the needle so assumming the drives pretty much ok..... tighten it back up and give it another go.

The speedo is sitting pretty nicely at the moment, no twitching..

How do i run the lube through? what should i use?

:D

Try getting something like wd40 running through it first then then when its clear any decent light oil should do the job. You can get a resevoir that fits onto the cables that allows you to hold a quantity of oil at the top end and then it just drip feeds the cable till its clear....

Do it sooner as opposed to later, I had this on my bug and ignored it then the internal cable snapped so you have to replace it. Not expensive but I could have saved myself a few quid and a bit of hassle if I had got of my arse and given it a squirt of lube in the first place

I got a spare in my garage if mine snaps =) ill get some oil down it... just been side tracked trying to sort out my crash repairs =s

Mine started doing this at the weekend  gonna get that WD40 out 8)

Hasthespaz,

Keep in mind that WD-40 is not a lubricant. The "WD" stands for water displacement. It will not elimate rust or corrosion. Try some "PB Blaster" in lieu of WD-40. Some really light grease on the cable will help too.

Although I wouldnt use it as a lube but as a penetrant it is actally a lubricant as well....

it isn't the best lubricant ever, but it sure does work! i used to use it on my skateboard wheels... made me go fast =)
