Hi everyone, bear with me now! I’m trying to install an oil bath air filter. I have acquired the later version with both a vacuum and thermostat.
The vacuum can opens the flap nicely and holds vacuum when tested with my hi-tech syringe system.
So, my understanding is that the vac lines run from manifold to top of filter (thermostat), then continue on to the vac can under the snout. The thermostat allows the vac signal through when cold, and cuts it off when the air inside the filter gets too hot -closing the vacuum operated flap, and hence stops warm air coming up from the stovepipe by the cylinders, yes?
Rigged up as in my photo, i can’t draw air through at all, either cold or with a hot air gun running over the thermostat area. Looking in the can there doesn’t seem to be much there as you can see. Is something missing?
I haven’t even got on to the fact the filter stand in the engine bay has been removed at some point, or that my engine tinware doesn’t seem to have room to put another hole in for the warm air intake. Ho hum
