I have discovered that the O/S/F corner of my bus has a has a fair amount of filler in it :( I never knew till I had the dash stripped out and saw the slide hammer holes with the filler poking through and tbh you would never know from the outside unless you look super close (as me and Oroo did yesterday)

Now would it be worth sending it to the bodyshop and getting it all stripped off, sorted and painted etc or should I just leave it :?

What would you do?

Tough call, may be worth getting done as your getting the screen surround done could do all the front at once, BUT its nearly camping season :msn4:

As above, if its cracked and falling out then do it. If not mark it as a job for next winter if its still eating at you. why fis it if it aint broke. Once you pull it all out it may require a whole font panel, which becomes a huge job so could be the start of something big.

Mines been filled to (there arent many that arent) but my front panel is multi-colured and got bits fell out. Id like to bust it all out weld the holes shut and grind down then paint as is to give it a bit more front end character.

Nah it's not got rust coming through or anything I just didn't like the idea of all that fillet is all :-S But seeing as you all suggest I leave it alone that's what I'll do :) I'd like to have all the body work fixed up and have some nice paint in it 1 day so I'll tackle it then.

Cheers for your advice.

Leave well alone unless its about to fall off, its quite common in the US to put bondo on body panel damage rather than pulling it out completely, theres filler on a fair few US buses. Usually its an easy fix when you need to but wait until its hanging off or you are going for a full respray.

I took my bus to get some quotes on respray/interior re-fit this weekend and was likewise amazed to be told that there were small amounts of filler in the front panel.

Apparently it looks like some dents have been repaired by drilling through the panel and pulling them out, the holes were then filled before it was re sprayed (in the US)

You would never know from the outside, even looking very closely!

I'm gonna leave it, I'd probably never have know unless I was told!

Haven`t you guys heard" Bog is good". But really ...If there are holes wuth bog coming through, then its been there for a long time. It was just the standard practice of body repair. Now we all give a shit. That was not the case decades ago. If its not rusty, Leave it alone. They are not all show cars.

Just to clarify, filler when used correctly is fine.
When its 5mm + thick and used to cover holes then its been done by a cowboy.

I found my front panel had been given the rough slide hammer out and bodge up with the filler treatment.

Might be a plan to get saving some pennies for the winter.
