Portable garage recommendations

Morning all,

I am toying with the idea of buying a portable garage for my bay to keep the elements off and work on it until I sadly sell it, this will most likely be next year now!

What portable garages would you recommend and size for the bay please?

With all due respect, I haven’t seen one that would give you a decent level of space to work around the van. The best one I saw an ad for a couple of years back was a tubular steel frame and almost tent shaped but that only gave about two feet on each side. I got a funny feeling it was made by somebody like Clarke or Machine Mart, might be a good place to start the quest.

Yeah it really is a compromise to keep the elements off and work on it. I dont have the luxury of a garage or nearby storage. So needs must.

Been looking at the JK and Machine Mart ones, seem ok, expense though, but then everything is these days

I thought about the same thing to paint mine in, don't forget most of these are not fire retardant, if you are still working on it IE grinding or welding it could be a problem, Machine Mart seem ok, I wouldn't use JK as a lot of stuff I have had from them over the years has been junk with terrible service, depending on what you buy size wise there are models that are big enough, just be careful of fires.

With any of those shelters, if you go that way, large steel flat plates clamped with a scaffold type clamp welded to the underside of the uprights, then you can add as many water drums as weights on the outside giving you more room in there. We used to do similar with our sales gazebo and use five gallon water tubs on each corner, it ain’t going nowhere then. These are all free ly available from your local chip shop as ex oil containers . Wouldn’t take a lot to make some clamp on plates, especially if you buy some from your local scrap yard.
