A few years ago i purchaced a very smokey engine, so i put some 1641 barrels and pistons on it and my old heads which i knew worked, but i noticed something odd... The possibly smokey heads had much bigger valves, they say 040 on them, what does that mean? They have been looking at me in the garage for a while so im going to clean them down tomorrow and fit new exhaust studs, but i was wondering how you tell if the valve guides need replacing and how i go about removing them? Ive also heard that heads can crack so im going to crack test them tomorrow as well, if they are cracked has anyone welded them before or will they only be fit for the bin?
