 You're not wrong Gni' ;) would you believe there is rust popping up already? and a leak somewhere :? she is still in the gazebo and I lifted the cab matt to find a puddle? god knows where that is coming from, new seals all round too?

You gotta laugh :x

Never mind she was sat outside for 12 years with no windows in so I think she will survive :D

One hundred and forty quid and one year later .......

:D

Can anyone tell me if these calipers are the one year only ones? The brake pads I bought for them don't seem to fit and the pins are too short :?

Its far too long since I updated this but seems some of the posts are missing? :?

Anyhoo, I ran out of enthusiasm a bit with all the stupid little problems but I did get the engine in and running! :D That was back in October but since then I have done fairly little, had to take half the loom out again so then it wasn't running :( but back on it first thing tomorrow sorting out the loom and lots of other little bits so its easier to get into the workshop as Nige the mechanic has promised to finally get that gas pedal in and finish the brakes :)

I took the hub caps to the chromers yesterday, £45 each! never mind she will look pretty :)

While nothings been going on with her I have been digging up my front garden and spent £500 on a dropped kerb so she can come and live under my bedroom window :D

Am uploading some pics of the engine in etc and will put them on in a bit :)

Schwing - looks nice 8)

I know what you mean about losing heart, but looking at those pictures above.....fanastic

Cheers gninnam :) its little bits of + that help <3 Thankyou :)

Today despite every bloody thing being difficult, the whole loom works! Yaye!!! got hazards to start with.... eventually, then side lights (after soldering bits to the bulbs to make a connection) I need new/ NOS or just working clusters at the arse end cos I am sure when I go over a bump they're all gonna give up.

Had to lose the led stop/tails I got cos they just wouldn't work right:(

Had loads of other issues with the slightly wrong loom, feed to coil was too short and 2 or 3 other bits, horn connections seem to be in the wrong place too? Don't know crossovers too well but there seems to be a few inches of difference

She turns over well again now and its such a good thing to hear :) didn't fire her up cos I still have no accelerator pedal

Oh and best thing! the horn works from the steering wheel button, first time ever in the 22 years I've known her :p

Most important thing  Well done ;)

I see you've used the second skin stuff, I'm still weighing up between that and dynamat,
what do you reckon to it? Has it made much of a difference, the concept seems great but it doesn't seem too logical to me how it can work, it does seem a good idea though

:)

I got it mainly to go in the cab doors as I thought it was easier than dynamat to get in the difficult areas and there wouldn't be any snagging on the window winder etc, also it would protect against any rain that got in, gotta say I am quite impressed with it, the doors shut with a nice clunk and I had loads left to do 2 coats on all the other panels and 2 or 3 underneath around the firewall and chassis. I will let you know more when I finally get to drive her ;)

Well after 3 weeks of waiting she was up on the ramps today .... but got fairly little done :( just the accelerator pedal and even thats not screwed down, getting fed up with waiting now so going to look for someone who is interested in doing it ........

Forgot to say she will be 40 on 2nd March :) (date of first Registration) so I am going to do my best to get her MOT'd on that day

Yaye! I have found a fella that will get on with the job, with a view to MOT on 2nd March. There is really not a lot to do, the throttle pedal is in but a bit sticky but its mainly the brakes that need finishing off :)

I had a good look round her and some of the prep and finishing on the paint job is really terrible :(

There are allsorts of careless irritating little bits :( Ah well she will look good if you squint

Jan11179.jpg

She is all packed up ready to move on my birthday next friday :D and then its full on till she has her MOT :D no food for a few weeks but that wont hurt

Shame about the rough edges you have, but you still have a good canvas to work from

Well the good news is the brakes are finally being done :) Bad news is my specialist thinks some of the welding is 'shocking' :( spot welded in parts it shouldn't be like the seat belt points :( and parts of the chassis :(

I don't know what to do now :?

I'm afraid Nugsey's right  - keep at it - you will be glad you did ;)

Cheers guys :) I will keep at it but its a bit of a bummer  I have spent over 10k and done lots of work for 'mates' well husband did for me (us... thats CyByL) He has built an 1k office for the welding and a 2k fence for the paint job and I'm sure they will still be standing way after the bodge jobs rust away :( I guess the lesson is don't do jobs for mates rates or in return for things cash can buy a much better job of :(

Anyhooo apart from lots of issues she is very near an MOT thanks to Nobby at Motorgraphix he is a star and a perfectionist and I am really sorry I didn't take it to him in the first place  When you see her at shows please look at the bigger picture rather than the cock ups (depresses me ) she was a wreck. I feel so let down by people I thought were friends and all this went on when they knew of my sons cancer diagnosis ??? what sort of people would be an arse in the middle of that??

So all I need now is an M14 x 1.5 pitch nut, 2 rear bump stops and a bit of brake pipe from the filler to the master cylinder and she's up and ready for her MOT :D
