hi

where do you good people who run twin carbs (weber idf's in my case) take the vacuum from for the servo?

do i need special manifolds or just drill and port the normal ones?

do i need a take off from both carbs?

also does the fuel line need to be even length from each carb to the T piece?

thanks ;)

I tapped a single barrel after advice on here and it works apparently ok, it did show up a leaky pipe by spitting back on start on that barrel, which hadnt happened with the single carb and manifold tap I had before. Not sure about the weber fuel pipe lengths, I run dellortos which are series fed anyway, but would have thought if your float valves are ok then it shouldnt be sensitive.

I was surprised there was no vac takeoff on the manifolds supplied with the weber kit.

Although the manifolds are quite meaty I didnt want the threaded end of the connector to protrude into the flow stream so, using a mig welder, I built up an area on the side of the manifold with more alloy, then ground it down for a flat tidy surface and drilled and tapped in that.

One barrel is perfectly adequate to feed the servo.

As regards the fuel supply, the webers use a wider diameter fuel pipe than stock so flow rates will not be significantly affected by uneven length. That said, if using a stock pump the supply would normally run up to the top of the fan housing and split to the two carbs from there giving an even split anyway.
