I know its early, but who's going, where are you staying and how are you getting there?

I'm def going, but thats all I know, I need some EBers to tag along with!

Unlikely but not totally ruled out. Really would like to, think it's not the best for my 11yr old son to attend, but good for me!! It is a long trip, much further than Ninove. Not sure my bus (engine) is up to it at the moment, need cash/time to build a new one from the used item sat on the garage floor!
Also need to fix the roof felt from the garage to the house, finish the utlity room, replace soffits and facias, repair the roof and decorate the whole house including replacing the crap cheapo laminate floors everywhere. Oh, and a new central heating sytem would be good. Will be fine when those 6 numbers come up, until then will have to be picky about what events I attend.
But yes, if poss, would really like to do this one. :D

Going out on the Thursday. Not sure whether it will be chunnel or ferry. Probably will stay over somewhere halfway, to arrive at Spa early Friday. Should be a few going from Brighton.

Can't wait! :D

Me Alice and the boys are planning on going, we were thinking of going out on the thursday and stopping halfway and arriving some time friday morning and then doing the same on the way home.

Im goin on the thursday too planning on taggin along with egotrippin and either comin back late sunday or early monday. this is my big one of the year fingers crossed for another scorcher 8)

Right, lets get this event sorted! Looks like a lot of folk are going and following a conversation with my boys Mum, so are me and Aaron!!!!! :D woohoooo!!!
Everyone will have their own plans, but just to share my initial thoughts, here goes...
Am going on Norfolk Line Dover/Dunkirk as I have credit with them for a cancelled booking. Thinking of crossing around 8pm Thursday so arriving 10pm, park up at the terminal and kip in the bus. Leave Dunkirk early Friday morning so figure on a 4 ish hour trip (180 miles) so be there about lunch time. On the Sunday, leave about 5 or 6pm for Dunkirk, park and kip at the terminal again followed by an 8 or 9am crossing Monday morning, in Dover 10 or 11 am, home (for me anyway) about 3 hrs later.
Just my first thoughts, don't know how this would fit in with others plans. The thought of a 'convoy' for the trip is appealing but appreciate that everyone has their own agenda/timescales.
Even if travelling together is not feasable, would like to think we could get camp pitched together?
This starts 9 weeks on Friday, sounds a long way off but will be here before you know it!

Spoke to Matt and Lisa on saturday Pete and it looks like were planning on crossing via the tunnel on thursday morning and finding a campsite about half way, we found some not to far off the main route for around 15 euros for the night. We will then leave early and hopefully arrive mid day and plan to do the same on the way back. If we don't meet up on route we will definately camp together and keep spots for everyone. :D

Only if you get your bus tubbed before hand

As Karle said, this is what we were planning on doing and if people want to join us....the more the merrier :D

I can't wait for this show.....just need to get things booked :msn4:

Yeah we are going out on Thursday morning. Thats all thats planned so far, other than staying in Europe for the week after Spa too :D

Thanks for the replies folks. Think it unlikely we would be able to leave before Thursday afternoon so looks like us doing the trip solo! Shame but not a problem 8) . Currently working near Blackpool, 180 miles from home and got here (in a modern 4x4 admitedly) in way less than 3 hours so figure on 4hours from Dunkirk to Spa (same 180 miles) Leave Dunkirk at 8am, there by 1pm with a couple of stops? Might try with Aarons Mum to stretch the trip by a day so we could stop on the way back for a while, Bruge has been recomended and is pretty much en-route.
Whatever happens, it's going to be a huge weekend!!!! :D :D :D

All booked for the midday ferry also. Just getting the campsite sorted now. :D

Me too :D :D :D

Seems as though we will have ourselves a little convoy.

Hopefully have the campsite sorted in a couple of days and will let everyone know the details :D

I'm having loads of bad luck at the moment so I'm gonna wait and see if my new engine is a goer before I commit to anything else.
If things work out I'll book asap and try and get the same crossings etc.

Don't think we can make the noon crossing. Aaron breaks up from school for the summer hols the day before but not only is it the summer hols, he and his friends will be leaving Primary school for the very last time before going to 'Big School' in September  .
Think they have 'a-bit-of-a-do' for those leaving, so a late night (for an 11yr old) won't mix with the early start needed to make said noon crossing. Or at least I'm damn sure thats how his Mum will view it....
So unless I can do a bit of real smooooooth talking, think we wil be sticking with the 8pm crossing and sleeping at the terminal. Got to try to extend the visit a bit as well, on ... erm... 'cutural and educational' grounds. :D

Ollie, fingers crossed for you mate :?

Having a few cash issues at the moment, so can anyone tell me roughly how much it will be for ferry, petrol, camping, entry etc? Thanks guys

No advance tickets, pay on the gate, think it's 35 euro per vehicle including camping (?). Have just checked Norfolk line and outward Thurs 22nd 20.00hrs, return Mon 26th 08.01hrs comes out at £64 with fuel surcharge and card payment fee. Figure 150 miles to Dover then 180 from Dunkirk to Spa so roughly 650/700 miles round trip. At 300 miles per £65 tankfull (more costly over there) about £170 for fuel. I make that £270 plus food/beer.
Would help if some mates came with you to share the cost.... ;) Be a shame to miss it mate.
Hope to see you Friday.

EDIT; Have checked on http://www.vwshow.be" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, entry inc. camping (and a drive around the track!!!!!) 35 euro per air cooled vehicle and 12.5 euro per adult. Convince them you're 12 or under and get in free. :D

I'm mulling it over, if I can persuade Rob to be my co-pilot we could be on...
