Starter motor issues, fix or bin it..

Hello all, been down to the bus today to sort it ready for Busfest.... and the blighter won't start, had an issue with it a few times now and can clean up the solenoid connections or **** it with a hammer and it'll join in but not today... it spins when I bridge it with a screwdriver but not engaging at all.

Is there something I could try or, do I bin it off and buy a new one?

Anyone know where else to buy a good one bar the usual suspects with VW tax applied....

Get it rebuilt at a local auto electricians.

If it’s a genuine Bosch, rebuild will be no issue for an auto electrician (and certainly worth doing for reliability!). If it’s a cheap Chinese copy, parts might be a struggle.
