Hi,

Have just had front beam replaced, but steering now seems a little stiff when turning right.

Mechanic tells me its nothing to worry about - He says that the steering box might need adjusting but that van is ok to drive in current condition.

Does this sound reasonable?

I can put up with it, providing it doesn't lead to further problems.

Sounds like the steering box/idler hasn't been adjusted, then the steering box has been adjusted on the "loose" bit.
If it's stiff don't drive it as you'll cause damage to the steering box. To remedy
Disconnect drag link from drop arm on box
Turn wheel from lock to lock counting the turns. Turn back exactly half way.
With road wheels facing forward, adust the length of the drag link so it lines up with the drop arm and reconnect.
Straight ahead is now in the centre of the steering boxes movement.
Then and only then, adjust the steering box.
