Hi All,

I was hoping to do a bit of a clean up around my tailgate catch. At some point in time someone has already had a go at the old screwheads and they seem to look a tad soft. Any suggestions for removing them? Otherwise i'll just try and clean around and leave it in situ.

Cheers
Craig

Soak them in WD40 or plusgas and then use the correct sized bit, I use a cordless drill on the torque setting for stuff like this, so it doesn't round off any more and I can ramp it up bit by bit until it cracks them loose.

Impact screwdriver, the hammer the end kind sometimes work

Or Cordless Impact Screwdriver, like a windy gun but for screws

Best tool ever

Don't use a normal cordless drill, will just round the heads off

Thanks chaps.....will get some more WD40 on it and dig out my bits selection box!
Shock them with a hammer too by giving it a sharp tap or two... Then I always give it a tighten turn first and it is easier to crack them off when the head is a little chewed
