UK source for stock doghouse sealing frame or 'Hoover Bit'

I've found a guy on US Ebay making doghouse sealing frames or 'Hoover Bits' (named after the late lamented vw guru Bob Hoover)

mine is missing, I have a '71 twinport 1600 with doghouse cooler, but a big gap around the base where the Hoover Bit should be (why would someone decide to bin this part ????)

unfortunately the American guy can't be bothered posting to the UK , soooo does anyone know where I can get one in the UK ?





I've seen ones that fit aftermarket SCAT air shrouds but they have their own issues, I need a stock pattern part, long since unavailable from VW

any clues ? I've googled and searched the forums already

Terrifyingly whoever assembled by engine had also binned the thermostat and welded the air flaps open ! They're now back in business.

Do people think they know better than VW ?

You can make them yourself easily enough- just need some aluminium/steel offcuts (ebay?) marker pen, ruler, hacksaw, drill and a couple of little bolts. An hour's job, if that There are good plans on earlybay if you do a search, or shit plans on Volkszone in my signature
