Unknown Light On Instrument Panel

1968 early T2 Bay 1600cc LHD imported from USA into UK.
Some 1971 and other parts fitted.

On the instrument panel there is a red light, maybe a switch, but have no idea what is does or should do. It isn't mentioned in the handbook.

It is located in the top right hand corner of the instrument panel.
Just to the left of a heater slider.
Hopefully someone can tell me what it is for?

Roof light switch....if you have an elevating roof of course !
