I've just got the parts together to setup my new 36 IDFs, i bought the Weber carb book by Bob Tomlinson from CB Performance, and i have to say its the best money i've spend, comprehensive guide to set up, dial in balancing maintenance etc, everything you need to know about webers including ICTs but focuses mainly on the IDFs.

The only thing missing is regarding vacuum advance, i want to keep my dizzy but it doesnt mention how or where to connect the vac pipe to the carbs? anyone any advice? thanks

If your intake manifolds do not have a tapped hole for the vacuum pipe from your dizzy to connect to. it will have a flat piece on the rounded part of the manifold, this will need to be drilled and tapped and pipe connector screwed in.
I dont think it matters which side you do, or you can do both and fit a tee.
hope this helps.

The Vac port on the manifolds should only be used for a balance pipe. Vac for the dissy should be taken off the carb body above the butterfly flap.

i was going to ask wouldnt fuel flood into the dizzy if it was done on the manifold?

There is a "vacuum" in the carb which is sucking air out of the dissy so how could fuel flood into the dissy?

You could use the manifold this will give you actual manifold vacuum throughout the range, at the carb you will get nill vacuum at idle/low revs....

yeah that an excellent link. look just like mine except the choke mechanism is different on mine, ill be using a bloccking plate and taking the chokes out as its too much bother trying to set and balance them.
