Hi
Thanks for all the responses from my previous question. However I have now been told this engine I have been offered is from a variant not a beetle. Can this be fitted to my 68? And what adaptions would be needed if any?
Sorry for all the questions but air cooled engines are still fairly new to me.

Does it have the 3 engine hanger bolt holes on the case? If not you'll have to get a mount adaptor kit that fixes to the oil pump studs.

You will have to use a dipstick adapter, which will require the rear engine tin to be modified(easy job) and also the oil pressure sender lug will have to be drilled and tapped unless you use the variant oil cooler which will require the fanshroud to be modified to clear the pressure switch(which is installed directly in to the oil cooler).
