Again don't get me wrong I wasn't challenging whether they were fit for purpose as everyone talks so highly off them, it must be the beetle ones I've seen then

Does fitting dropped spindles let you go lower then?

Whats the benefit they seem quite expensive?

Dave

By fitting these you can go lower without putting an adjustable beam on, I think I'm correct in saying that they also keep the geometry of a Ball Joint set up in tact rather than putting it under pressure when you put beam adjusters on.

Hope I've got that right, I think I have

that is correct, basicaly the suspension travel and all steering components stay in teh same place, alll that yhas been done is that the spindle has been moved 2.5" higher, this drops the van 2.5" simple and effective, why it has taken so long to come up with the idea is bizare!

i will probably in time adding a lowered beam, to drop it a bit more, but still keep a half decent ride.

and they arent that expensive £260 delivered, not bad for a nice comfy 2.5" drop!

no, noting at all, they were marked as "Other" on the packet, they were delivered drirect to my house, in the past i have had to collect items i have imported!

I've been using my dropped spindles with adjusters all through the summer and not had a problem with them, although you might find the lower balljoint scrapes the rim slightly if you're running 14inch wheels. Nothing a trim with the grinder won't sort.

The ride quality is great, and on asking Nate, he assured me that the units are properly heat treated after they've been welded for maximum strength.

I think Puppy's dropped spindles are going to be forged, but I bet they'll be double the price of Nates.

Slammed - what is the ride quality like ? will a wife and child find it bumpy? have you got a photo?

Mark

Ride quality is very smooth.

I went from having the beam so low it was hitting the beam on the road with just adjusters to still fairly low with adjusters and dropped spindles, and the difference is incredible.

It rides as close to stock as your going to get without actually having stock ride height. Before it drove like a bucking bronco!

What do you want pictures of?

The front end of the bus or the spindles being fitted?

It's on adjusters as well though so it's lower than yours will be...

thats exactly the stance i am after! what size tyres are you running ?

and what beam are you using ?

any chance you can fill in the blanks here dude, sory if im copying your stance, but they do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

front,
2.5" droped spindles
adjustable beam
Shocks??
165/60/14

Rear
2 outer splines
shcoks??
tyres?

i had a natter with nate before i ordered them. i thought that whta they did was used two sets od original spindles and make one set by simply cutting of a shaft the weldling they other shaft with plate attached 2.5 " higher. but the actually use just one set and completely chop it to bits. then weld it all together on a jig. they dont look that great but i spoke to a few companies with forged one in the pipeline and if you think the £270 these cost from the us is a lot. these same ones are £400 in the uk and forged will be twice that. :? which kinda made my up for me. (well that and the fact that the us dollar is on its arse at the mo so its nearly two to one exchange)

No worries...

Front
2.5" dropped spindles
adjustable beam
Shocks - KYB GR2 beetle fronts for slammed cars
Tyres - 165/60/14

Rear
1 inner spline (only one because otherwise I can't get the tyres off easily)
Shocks - stock
Tyres - 185/65/14

Rear is getting bigger tyres and adjustable springplates soon.

thanks for that, i did wonder about your rear tyres, I cracked my heads on my old 1303 after running 195x45x5's lol lack of knowlage on my part there! wont be doing that in a hurry, so i want to keep the roling radius as close to stock as possible.

I'v been thinking of lowering my bus for quite a while, are we all saying dropped spindles are the way to go.If this is so how can i get hold of wagens west :?:
