Not convinced that my dizzy is operating correctly, when sucking on the pipe i can not see the base plate move, can hear the vac moving but not the base plate, so does anyone have a Dizzy for sale,
Currently running a 34 pict 3 carb so something to match upto this please, might even consider a 009 (if its cheap enough-getting desperate)

Probably it would be cheaper to strip, clean and grease your old one then replace the vac can with one from GSF or whoever you get your bits from.If you buy a second hand dizzy, the vac can will probably be gone anyway.

The problem is that i've posted about how to clean / regrease the dizzy but no-one has replied. I dont want to strip the dizzy to find i cant rectify the fault and then be without a dizzy thats why im after a cheap dizzy that i can play with.

Take the rotor arm off, then remove the circlip holding the vac can operating arm off. Then remove the screws holding the vac can on.Lift the vac arm off the points plate and remove the vac can completely.Remove the condensor and points.Remove the screws holding the cap securing clips and remove the clips. Then you will have another 1 or 2 screws on the side of the dizzy holding the points base on.Remove them. Now you can remove the points base.(Mark the position it is fitted before removing to aid refitting)You will probably have to evenly prise it up with 2 screw drivers without bending anything.Once off you will see the centrifugal advance weights mechanism.Check these are moving freely in and out.You can clean the whole lot with parrafin or solvent and a brush, let it dry then lubricate all the pivots with a bit of copper grease. Then you can also seperate the points plate halves, there is a spring clip to one side with a ball bearing underneath.Carefully slide the clip off without losing the bearing. Now you can rotate the points plate halves until they are in the correct position to pull apart.Again clean everything and put a bit of copper grease on the touching parts.Refit the halves together and put the ball bearing and clip back on.Then refit the plate,it is a bit fiddly again prise it on with 2 screwdrivers. Then refit everything else, checking the vac can is leak free.Take photos as you go along if it helps work out how it should look.
