Hi,

Would anyone with a weedeater 2 beam know how low you can go without tubbing before the wheel arches rub?
I've a gap of about 2.5" from the tyre to the wheel arch on the front. The van isn't on the road yet and I need to measure the distance between shock mounts before Creative Engineering will send out the shocks.

Thanks,
Niall.

Pretty much same answer as before! How long is a piece of string...! If you only drive on flat, well-tarmacked roads, you can drive with a few mm clearance. If you like to take it off-road exploring, then you're going to need a fair bit more travel. It's a question that no-one can answer, you really just need to take a punt based on what other people have done, and then maybe have to do a bit of trial and error from there.

wow.
1. I never got any notification of replies to that thread.
2. I completely forgot I posted it!!

Sincere Apologies

Haha! Got deja vu, no need to apologise! The lowering malarkey is very subjective, everyone will give different on opinions on how low is too low, how hard is too hard etc etc. Unless you are copying someone else’s setup (which is a lot easier if you can get a passenger ride), it is a trial and error game. Your best bet would be to find a build thread on here where the owner uses the van in a similar manner to how you intend to use yours, and has the look that you’re after - you can copy that and at least stand a good chance of getting it right first time.

Thanks Moseley. Apologies for the late reply. been dealing with some issues caused by the "professional" I got to weld and paint the bus. sliding door and tailgate need to be re-done.
Here's a photo of the current ride height. I'd go lower if I could get away with it but not sure if I would.

At that current height I measured some gaps. the distance between my front tyres and my arches is 70mm and the distance from the drive shafts to the chassis rails is 35mm. the 35mm is a bit worrying! hardly enough clearance when I go over a bump
