West interior....sell now or save.

Thanks all....still no decision, not sure of its value if split vs sold as a whole or vs keeping to possibly pass onto a new owner when the time comes...

We like the old westy interior but it doesn't work for us as it is- the wardbribe had to go....but someone might like the original in the future

Plan is to get some nifty gadgets in there to make life in the camper easier...driving too...the debate rages... :roll:

The Westy layout didnt work for me after 4 yrs of trying, so im just finishing putting a late Westy Berlin interior in. I didnt want anything 'new' looking and its still now a Westy, but a little different. I wouldnt worry about loosing your original interior, as long as what you replace it with is fitted well then it wont make any difference to its long term value. The important thing is you use it and enjoy it for what it is.

This is exactly the dilemma facing me and several others I should think......

I bet you and I would love to know by how much your bus is devalued on the open market by removing it! Anyone got a crystal ball out there?

A valuation would be lovely as would a realistic idea of the value if we sold the interior

Some bits can't be found anywhere so it's hard to value and as we are discovering you never throw anything away....everything is important to someone :lol:

The shed was cleaned out yesterday while waiting for the bus to start dropping (adjusters on but it's still sitting high - naughty bus!), the shed no longer houses the more but is now home to the westy interior! Fortunately it's a very dry and insulated shed so should be fine

We've taken out the sink/fridge unit as it was getting in the way when getting up in the morning

It's being sold and possibly replaced with a smaller unit (I've seen someone who adapted a Moonraker wardrobe which looked quite nice)

The extra space is lovely though!

So what's the Berlin. Isn't it a smaller wardrobe set back with a bit more space near the bed.

I like a feeling of space, we didn't have the sink unit sadly but to be fair we wouldn't keep it anywa but be nice to have a full set to sell one day or put back

Do you really want to worry about whether you will get a better price when you sell it with a complete interior?

Or do you want to enjoy the bus itself?

I was a little concerned about removing the unit (apart from the hole in the floor it left :roll: ) cos I wanted the bus to be as stock as possible but when I thought about it I just wanted to enjoy camping in it, not worrying about selling it complete or not!

we took the westy sink/cool box unit out as it took up more space than value it offered us. However I kept it in case we need it in the future. Only because I have space to do that. I then mounted the spice rack and folding shelf on the bulkhead.

If i were you i'd have the bus set up how you want and use it that way, if it means taking the current set up out and selling it then do so. If you sell the bus in the future someone will always find another interior, plus the interiors currently are fetching good money so will pay towards the revamp.

Ive also fitted a dormobile fold out cooker behind the passenger seat, as we like to cook in the bus, it always gets attention at shows when people ask what model westy it is with a cooker, always makes me chuckle :lol:

if you split it would say you would get £600 to £750, the stool can go for £100, rear shelf £75, sink cooler £200, wardrobe £100, r n r seat £175, buddy seat £100, these seems to be abouts the prices i've seen recently.

IF my bus doesn't find a new home then it's coming out! Its LHD, all present and correct, no repairs needed! I'll bear this in mind as for that price It would go a long way towards a new interior....

Probably the best idea, that's what we did and then developed the interior over a few camping seasons

Caulker71, just noticed you asked a Q about the Berlin layout, it has everything down one side, and if you can find a Delux you get a 240/24v fridge & a hob as well as a sink with a pump. Up top I have. Continental double bed, but I do have 3 kids so any extra room I can eek out is paramount :lol:
