I'm not sure if this belongs in technical because it isn't very technical however....

I wonder if anyone knows or has ever put some kind of seal/trim around the westy roof cutout and the plywood headlining? Is it a thing that has ever existed or is this something of a personalisation modification that people have put in? Any pictures or advice about how you have done it (if it is a thing that can be done) would be appreciated. I'm just in the process of removing my ply headliner, thought it might tidy it up a little when it went back in....

Thanks

Michael

There USA proper seal available for it

I'm about to re-do mine. Has anyone worked out how to get the seal to stay put on the hatch?? :msn4:

It seems a bit too thick to fit easily around the bends, I know that heating it up with a heatgun/hair-dryer will make it easier to work with, but doesn't the problem re-occur once the plastic goes cold?

I think most people use glue? I've also seen someone use self tappers to screw it down!

What has worked for you? :?:

Good old fashion persaverence I'm afraid. Mine is always comming loose especially around the d shape

I think it is made like that, i.e. thicker, so if you hit your nut on the hatch it cushions it a bit.

Ok, sounds like I'm not the only one having issues with getting it to fit.

Anyone had any success fitting this trim or used any other trim?

Mine was too thick too, got it years ago, might have been a wagons west one, can't remember. I used the tiny screws that hold the canvas on to hold the trim in place, not ideal, but never came loose....

Maybe a load of sikaflex and g clamps to hold in place?

Cheers

Alistair

Just a quick update guys, I bought a new seal from VWH and I must say although it looks the same it is much softer and easier to fit than the stiffer previous seal.

I just warmed it up to fit, after making sure the edging was even i.e. the ply was level etc. I had to trim about 1mm of ply at one bit. Anyway, not used anything to hold it up for now so will see how it stays up.

Apologies to OP for thread hijack !
