OK, this might seem a stupid question but never having camped before (well once but this was over a weekend at a festival) and not having an camping equipment, what are the basic / essential items we need to look for.
We've made a possible list of things that we think but if you have any more ideas then please add to the list.
2 ring hob with grill (and gas bottles / refills)
BBQ (?)
Kettle
Plates and cutlery (already got this from a show last year)
1st aid box (got this already)
water bottles
sink
cool box
heater (?)

most essential item is the wife, cos she remembers to bring all these things. I just get the van ready

few basic spare for the van

spark plugs, plug spanner
dizzy cap
rotor arm
points or a spare dizzy with al this on ( that's what I carry with me)
Just kampers phone number, in case you need to order something

sleeping bag
torch + spare battery's
wellies
umbrella
elec hookup?

Already put together a little tool kit with a few spares, made sure my AA cover is upto date and got the credit card
Anything else?

Try this out for size.

I think if you have mobile phone, credit card and AA or RAC membership, most things are covered. Have fun

just make sure you have the van running its best, beer tokens in your wallet and contact details of recommended vw garages for the area.......

Joined this forum today after seeing the Early Bays display at Sandown Park today - we aspire to get Razzel to look like one of those fine examples.

Loved the lists of what we should take camping, both practical (ubercool) and hilarious (rubberdubber, true boys on tour list)

Grazey - i laughed soo hard at your plight i was crying, i'm a girl & we have to take everyFOOKINGthing, if there is space - i'm going to fill... just in case.

Rotbox - bloody good point
